Seastex redirects mussel waste from landfills by developing circular, safe, and sustainable byssus-based materials. Byssus is manufactured by clean technology suitable for the construction, furniture, and textile industries. Seastex adheres to circular economy not only by developing an eco-friendly and high-performance byssus-based materials, but also by taking care of their products at the end of their usable life. Old byssus products can be collected by request and re-integrated into new products. Seastex’s very first product are Acoustic Byssus Core (ABC) tiles. They make use of exceptional byssus’s heat retention and sound-absorbing properties and are suitable for architecture and interior design applications.

In addition, the treatment process is done with natural ingredientsleading to no emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and reduction ofcarbon footprint. The byssus is 100% recyclable, biodegradable and renewable.
